MICHAEL S. ELKIND received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering and computer science with honors from the University of California at Berkeley in 1970, his M.S.E.E. degree in 1971 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his Juris Doctor degree in 1974 from Harvard Law School . Mr. Elkind's professional practice includes litigation and office practice in the areas of patents, trademarks, unfair competition, copyrights, trade secrets and contracts. His areas of technical expertise emphasize analog and digital electronics (including photovoltaics), data processing, mechanical and electromechanical apparatus and systems, and materials and their processing.

Following law school, Mr. Elkind practiced business and corporate law for several years before turning to intellectual property and technology-related law in 1977. He practiced in this field for 20 years with two other law firms in Los Angeles including 14 years as a partner before joining this firm as a partner in 1998.

Mr. Elkind has litigated court cases, including civil trials, in a variety of intellectual property fields, and litigated contested patent and trademark office proceedings. His office practice includes the filing and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patents and trademark registrations. He also has authored articles on both patents and trademarks.

Mr. Elkind is admitted to practice in California and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is a member of the State Bar of California, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association.
