Fulwider Patton LLP Prosecutes Patent For Leading Paper Stapler
Spring-Powered Desktop Stapler Helps Accentra, Inc. Garner Top Market Share
LOS ANGELES – Fulwider Patton LLP reports the issuance of a patent for a “Spring Energized Desktop Stapler” that has taken the office products industry by storm. This revolutionary desktop stapler allows users to staple up to 20 sheets of paper using the pressure of just one finger. The source of this remarkable performance is the staple-gun-style, spring-powered staple driving mechanism, which was developed by renowned inventor Joel Marks and is marketed under the Accentra PaperPro® brand name. The key patent for the spring-powered stapler, U.S. Patent No. 6,918,525, was prosecuted by Fulwider Patton LLP partner Paul Feng. Accentra’s Chief Executive Officer Todd Moses, a former hardware-marketing executive, who was frustrated with his famous-brand, jam-prone stapler, founded a company to market this product. In its first six months on the market, it sold one million units in a market that sells 25 million annually. The now-patented PaperPro® stapler has been widely heralded as the most innovative office product in years and is poised to make all other standard staplers obsolete. Marks, who also invented the SqueezeDriverTM, a hand-powered drill; the PowerShot® forward acting staple gun; and the Gator-Grip®, a universal socket tool; has received numerous invention and design awards for his creations. Working closely with Marks, Feng has obtained patent protection for these innovative devices.
