ATTORNEYS

DAVID G. PARKHURST specializes primarily in prosecution of U.S. and foreign patents, patentability, infringement and validity studies relating to chemistry, polymer chemistry, and chemical engineering, and biomedical, mechanical, optical, and software technologies.

Before joining the firm in 1987, Mr. Parkhurst worked for five years as sole practitioner in general legal matters, including family law, personal injury, and bankruptcy law, before joining another intellectual property firm for two years as an associate, where he was responsible for legal research and discovery in patent and copyright litigation matters, drafting of patent applications, preparation of patent and trademark amendments, and patent novelty, patent infringement, and trademark availability opinions. He then worked for seven years as an associate for a firm in the field of international patent law, with emphasis primarily in foreign patent prosecution matters in the fields of chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, electronics, mechanical and computer related matters.

He received an Associate of Arts in pre-medical studies in 1967 from Pasadena City College, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California at Los Angeles, 1969; a J.D. from the University of Southern California in 1973 and a second Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from California State University at Northridge in 1979. He is the author of "Harmonization - Peace in our Time?" published in the California State Bar, Intellectual Property Section journal, "New Matter," Spring 1992.
