Mr. Hansen worked as a research engineer after engineering graduate school, writing computer software that performed engineering design optimization. He studied with and worked under Dr. Garret Vanderplaats, one of the leading experts in the world on engineering design optimization.
As an attorney, Mr. Hansen specializes in intellectual property litigation, prosecution, and licensing. He has run numerous patent, trademark, trade secret and unfair competition law suits on a day-to-day basis. He is also well versed in patent and trademark prosecution and opinion work.
Mr. Hansen is co-author of California Causes of Action, a widely-used treatise relating to state causes of action. He authored chapters on trademark infringement, trademark dilution, trade dress infringement, and statutory and common law unfair competition. For the past several years, he has delivered an annual update to the Century City Bar Association on developments in patent law. Mr. Hansen is also Past Editor-in-Chief of New Matter, a law journal of the California State Bar. He currently serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the IP Section of the State Bar.
Scott is a past recipient of a Volunteer of the Year award from the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law for his extensive pro bono work on behalf of low-income clients in Los Angeles. He has served as an officer on the Barristers Board of Directors of the Beverly Hills Bar Association, and on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association.
Mr. Hansen joined Fulwider after serving as a Partner in the Los Angeles and Newport Beach offices of Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly LLP. He is admitted to practice in California, and before numerous courts, including the Central, Southern, Northern and Eastern Districts of California and the Court of Appeals for the Federal and Ninth Circuits. He is also registered before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
